Zoie and I had a lunch date at the Sunflower Cafe. I was not trying to eavesdrop while in line at the Whole Foods Market in Green Hills, but when I heard the cashier talking to the man checking out about the wonderful black bean burgers at his cafe my "spidey" sense kicked into gear. I am all about a fantastic black bean burger. So, of course, after I watched the man walk away, I interrogated the cashier and found out that he was the owner of the Sunflower Cafe. Weeks went by before the opportunity arose to go though. (Chiteng, although he would go with me, is not a fan of the no meat movement.....soooo an opportunity came up for me to go with my beautiful daughter and I snatched it.)
When we got there, I was surprised (not in a bad way) by 2 things: 1. I was not expecting the cafeteria style set up, but it was actually nice and homey. It took me back to my childhood (although the food was not in the same universe as school lunchroom cafeteria food) 2. There was not a black bean burger...what?! (also not a bad thing) I found out that a veggie burger is offered and it is their own unique yummy design and that I could choose my topping style. That day I was feeling patriotic and chose the All American. With my burger, I got a side of Toasted Sesame Kale (again...yum) and topped everything off with Agava Tea.
Fabulous food and some special time with my lovely oldest daughter made for a great date escape.
